Flourish 7"x10" watercolour
Splattering flourish of reds, yellows, greens and violets explodes in a riot of growth.
The shed starts to dissolve and fade from view behind bushes and shrubs.
A stone marker delineates edge of property before it is completely devoured.
The homes are disappearing and joining the return of natures dressed finery.

Gone Fishing 10"x7" watercolour
The river flows down to the ocean basin under bridges and beside a busy highway.
Gentle swish an arching line, quiet focus, wait a beat then let the line snake through the air.
It's early Friday morning maybe on his way to work. His car simply drove him here.
Again he throws the line in a silver S then pulls back to a slow rhythmic beat.

Terns Supper 7"x10" watercolour
As the late evening sun falls down for the night, a frenzy of dining alights.
Flashes of white darting round and round; terns catch their supper.
Plunging in and out like a needle drawn and threaded through by a giant hand.
So fast and quick, flitting and then... gone like the light, like a thought.

Sparkling, tingling, shimmering, bubbling after long frozen winter retreat.

Big Blue 7"x10" watercolour
Spotted hat, bright pink raincoat, poke-a-dot stockings and ladybug boots styling fierce.
Climbing up slides and flying down slides, through tubes and under arches but then...
Full stop. How did this get here? Now what do I do? The big bad blue.
I know; call for assistance; that works. Hey! I got up but I can't get down.

Butterfly Kite 10"x7" watercolour
Low setting sun making long finger shadows of coming night.
Neon bright light illuminates wings of a butterfly kite and the wind animates.
Erratically swooping, gliding, catching, and riding the last of the days rays.

Spring Quilt 10"x7" watercolour
Across the basin, terraced on eagle hill, along shore drive are a pattern of homes.
Dull morning, muted colours sitting quietly before the Spring's loud assault of hue.
Triangles, rectangles, squares of buildings quilted and sewn with curves of nature.
Trees are naked, bare and transparent to be clothed, covered and solid brightness.

Moorings 10"x7" watercolour
Floating fuchsia orbs pokadot the basin water and reversed sky like planets.
Newly spouted over the Easter weekend the moorings mark where their boats will anchor.
Flying in a wet space with the far shore like a space ship.
Too cold for boating weather but just right to make ready.

Marina Waits 10"x7"watercolour
Vacant bare branched mauve and dark green trees are a backdrop to club.
Crowded jumble of tented boats lie dormant in temporary marina and wait.

Spring Swing 10"x7" watercolour
On a cold bright Spring day by the waters edge is a children's playground.
Bundled in winter coat, wool mittens, hat and stockings and snow boots a decision is made.
Long unused swings invite. "Lets play. Lets play"
Answering a child replies gleefully soaring and flying up.

Gate 10"x7" watercolour
In the middle of an unkepted hedge is a unused gate with two pillars either side.
No footprints in the snow, no one shovels, no path leads to the old Victoria house it is in front of.
The wrought iron grill, hinges and lock are all rusted stains run down the concrete mortar and brick.
A gate from long ago from nowhere to nowhere but its strength and beauty still stand now.

Sea Gull Waits 7"x 10" watercolour
The river empties into the basin where a boat mooring flows with guest.
A top a bright vibrant magenta sphere on fast moving water a sea gull perches.
Looking out to sea waiting, nobly waiting, with chest out and eyes high, waiting.
It is Spring but the boats are not in and so we wait with chin up.

A railway bridge spans over a rushing river and road on pillars of stone.
It has a look of age like it has been there forever, strong and weathered.
Light hits on it's charactered and multi-textured surface of wall, disappearing in shadow.
Two runners pass under in cover of casted shadow silhouetted.

Bright Climb 10"x7" watercolour
Sunshine glistens and glimmers off the basin's shore.
Clear and clean the bottom of pebbles and stones can be seen.
There are steep stairs ascending the sea wall to challenge and clammer up.
The escape, the climb, the victory; Mom's hand planted on back undetected.
To happily exclaim. "I DID IT MYSELF! I DID IT MYSELF!"
